Working Principle and Assortment of Spiral Classifier


The spiral classifier is regarded as the spiral ore discharging device. The spiral classifier usually forms a semicircular sink through the upper and lower bearing portion, the drive means and the elevating mechanism of the spiral axis. The pulp after fine grinding is sent to the sink through the feed opening. The lower end of the sink with the inclined installation is the pulp classification sedimentation area. The spiral rotates with low speed and the pulp should be stirred so that most of light fine particles can suspend in the above to flow the side weir at overflow and become the overflow. In the ore beneficiation process, the heavy particles settle on the bottom and become the mineral sand (coarse sand). The mineral sand is sent to the discharge opening by the screw conveyor. The classifier and the grinding machine form the closed circuit. The coarse sand enters the grinding machine through grit chute for grinding again.
The spiral classifier can be divided into single spiral classifier and the double spiral classifier according to the number of the spiral axis. The spiral classifier can be divided into high weir spiral classifier, sunken spiral classifier and the low weir spiral classifier according to the height of the downflow weir of the spiral classifier. The position of the downflow weir of the high weir spiral classifier is higher than the bearing center at the lower end of the spiral axis but lower than the upper edge of the overflow spiral. This kind of classifier has certain subsidence area, which is suitable for the dispersedness of the coarse-grained materials, which can obtain the particle size of overflow that is greater than 100 mesh. The whole spiral of the overflow end of the submerged spiral classifier is submerged under the surface of the settlement area. The settlement area has   large area and depth, which is suitable for fine-grained classification. The overflow weir of the low weir spiral classifier is lower than the center of the bearing center of the overflow end. Therefore, the area of the settlement area is small and the overflow production capacity is low. This classifier is generally not used for hierarchical processing, but it is used for washing ore or desliming.
